What does an AI checker measure?
AI detection analyzes statistical patterns in language. It does not look up a complete record of everything ChatGPT has ever written, identify a person, or check whether a factual claim is true. Readability and grade-level estimates describe the text separately from the detection result.
What should you do with an unexpected result?
Start with the writing process. Check drafts, notes, source material, and the writer’s explanation of the argument. Editing, translation, formulaic language, and a mix of human and AI writing can complicate interpretation. Repeatedly changing a few words until a score drops does not establish originality.
